Our other favored sign vinyl is the Oracal 631, the Exhibition Cal. This is best for the indoors, for short to medium applications. Use with either decorative film or application tape, ideally from the same brand.

When applying the 631 vinyl, take ample time to let the graphics set before removing the industrial tape. Be careful when using low-VOC or zero-VOC paints, because these have lower adhesion levels compared to other types. Unlike the 651, the adhesive for this vinyl is water-based and removable. It should come off easily and allow for convenient replacement.

Cutting High-Quality Vinyl

Ideally, you should have a professional vinyl cutter, at a large size. This will save time when you are creating signs meant for cars, drywall, or windows. Clean the surface in question before applying any vinyl.

Place the vinyl facedown and weed the details with a mirrored effect; everything should read backward so that when you apply the vinyl, the letters and graphics will appear on the right side. Make sure that your weeding is smooth before applying the transfer mask.

Apply the vinyl to the surface and remove the top layer, leaving the transfer mask on. Press with a squeegee before removing, or let sit for a short while before doing so.
